What do you do when you see a guy standing in the middle of the street wearing a giant cat head? Well if you’re me, you have to go and investigate. What we learned from the cat man, was that he was promoting a Cat Cafe. Most of us would think that a Cat Cafe is a cafe that has a lot of cat decor. Well, we would all be wrong! Apparently these Cat Cafes have LIVE cats that roam around and you enjoy the company of these various kitties while enjoying a delicious beverage. Even though I’m slightly allergic to cats, this sounded too intriguing to pass up. Off to the Cat Cafe we go!
Cat Cafe (Myeongdong)
서울 특별시 중구 명동 8 길 8-5 ( 명동 2 가 명동 빌딩 6 층) – (8-5 Myeongdong 8-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea)
After you have changed into slippers, you will enter through another door. There is a person behind the window who will explain the house rules and also ask you to use hand sanitizer on your hands. The house rules are pretty simple, don’t abuse the kitties. There is an entrance fee which is 8,000 won per person and that includes a beverage (they offer different coffee, tea, and fruit juice drinks)
The cats are literally everywhere. They are definitely the kings of this castle. The interior actually was MUCH cleaner than I had anticipated and the cats seemed to be pretty darn happy.
The drinks were just average, but lets be honest, if you’re going to a cat cafe, you aren’t going for the food and drinks. So after a little while of petting and saying hello to the cats, my allergies started acting up and we had to leave. Overall, if you are a cat lover, you will really enjoy this place.
